Revive Active Ladies Fourball

David met Goliath at Roscommon for the Regional Finals of the Revive Active National Ttournament.   Tullamore, a big club with no less than six single figure players on their team.were the opponents for B & S who had just the one single figure player were very much the underdogs.  The match ended in a nailbiting finale on the 18th but before that the 1st pair out won well 4 and 2.    The 3rd pair were 2 up on the 15th.   The 2nd pair out had been 2 up but lost the 15th and also the 16th to a lovely birdie from the 1 handicapper.    All square playing 17th the B & S girls won with a shot then on to the 18th the opposition needing to win.    Margaret McConnell after a great drive played a brilliant 2nd shot into strong win to land a few inches short of the green then the 1 handicapper after even a longer drive pulled her 2nd shot a little to the left but with a clear shot to the pin.   She overcooked it a bit and missed the putt.    ~Game over, Margaret put her long putt close to the  pin to win.    Meanwhile back on the 17th the opposition conceded to give B & S their 3rd win, the other pairs were called in.  Great excitement for the team and supporters.   The team on the day were Darragh McGowan & Karen O’Meara  Margaret McConnell & Eileen Reilly  Dolores Devaney & Ann Glancy  Mary McHugh & Eileen Boyce  Josephine Stewart & Bridie Faulkner.   Team Capt Mgt McCrossan  Team Manager Kathleen McGowan.

The Finals will be held in Athenry over the 5th and 6th October, the opposition will be last year’s winners,  Dun Laoighre.
 Meanwhile some fundraising must be held and with that in mind an Open Competition for men and women will be held at  B & S on Sunday 29th September for which Sponsors are required.   On Wednesday the 25th September the weekly quiz will be in aid of this event and a Hamper sponsored by the team members is up for raffle now at €5 per 3 tickets.   Tickets can be got at the shop and Bar.
